P004 → Light & Entropy
In the trilogy of photobooks I've created, I embarked on a comprehensive exploration of entropy, using light not just as a subject but as a narrative force to depict the universal transition from order to chaos. This journey led me through extensive research and critical reflection across physics, aesthetics, and philosophy, deeply considering how light's interaction with the world exemplifies the gradual march toward disorder.
Each book is a collection of meticulously composed photographs, the result of countless hours of experimenting with light, shadow, reflection, and color to capture the subtle yet profound progression of entropy. Nolan's movie Tenet inspired me a lot. My approach was an earnest attempt to bridge the scientific and artistic realms, informed by the complex theories of thermodynamics and the rich history of art and light. I aimed to translate these abstract concepts into a tangible form, making the invisible laws of nature visible and palpable through the medium of photography.
I was deliberate in my use of lighting, angles, and environments, embracing various styles to illustrate the different facets of entropy. The careful planning of image sequence and book composition further enhances the narrative, leading the viewer through a visual journey from order to chaos. Hope It invites viewers to contemplate not only the beauty of light and shadow but also the profound implications of the ever-present increase in disorder that defines our universe. These photobooks are a record of the ongoing exploration and understanding of the world around us, capturing the transient interaction between light and entropy, and allowing me to reflect thoughtfully on artistic expression and the fundamental nature of existence.
